Lisa provides a holistic approach to assessing and treating the body and tailors each Massage Therapy session to your individual needs and goals. Lisa is an avid seeker of knowledge and has taken many Advanced Manual Therapy and Energy Healing courses. She assesses each individual client and incorporates a combination of some or all of these techniques for optimal results. Some of these techniques include Indirect Myofascial Release, Strain Counterstrain, Muscle Energy Technique, Somatoemotional Release (Psychosynthesis), and Acupressure.
Intuitive Usui Reiki Master/Teacher
Reiki is a Japanese energy healing modality that is both gentle and deeply relaxing. The word Reiki can be broken down into 'Rei' universal life force and 'ki' energy.
The therapist offers Reiki with a light, non-invasive touch on or slightly off the body. Traditionally, a series of hand positions are used on the front and back of the body. The Reiki energy is channelled through the therapist to help clear and re-balance energy centers or Chakras in the body, to promote physical, emotional and spiritual healing. Because Reiki is an intelligent energy it will go wherever is needed in the body for the clients highest good.
It is common to experience heat, tingling or pulsating sensations throughout the body, or sometimes nothing at all during a session. Client feedback after a Reiki session has included feeling 'lighter', like a weight has been lifted, increased energy or increased relaxation and/or improved sleep. Reiki can be helpful in providing some symptom relief from cancer treatment, anxiety, depression, stress and pain conditions. Reiki always works for your highest good and as such, there are no contraindications to receiving Reiki. Reiki works very well in combination with Massage Therapy or on its own.
Lisa has Advanced Mindfulness Meditation training from the University of Toronto. Mindfulness is the practice of bringing ones awareness to the present moment and noticing, without judgement, any thoughts or feelings that arise. Mindfulness Meditation focuses on living consciously, with an awareness of the mind body connection.
Many studies have shown that Mindfulness Meditation can help decrease symptoms of pain, stress, depression and improve immune function. Other studies have shown that Mindfulness Meditation improves brain functioning, cellular functioning, increases resilience toward negativity and stress, and helps to regulate emotions and self control.
Lisa can incorporate Mindfulness Meditation techniques into her Massage Therapy sessions or as Self Care for her clients.
